Post by The Seventh SignPost by v***@yahoo.comI live in Toronto.
I bought a house with oil based heating.
Does anybody know good/cheap company to buy oil from?
Thanks,
Vlad
How new is the set up?
I suggest a 50 50 blend of bio diesel and diesel for the warmer times
and a 90 - 100 % diesel for colder times.
there is no such thing as a cheap oil co to buy from today.
Make sure you are paying the correct price for the oil. the hotter the
weather the less fuel you are buying because the density of the oil is
changing you literally get less bang for the buck in hotter weather
and in colder weather you get more bang for the buck but bio diesel
has a higher temperature gelling factor. If you have something like a
co-op (Farmers supply stores) I suggest talking to them about the
fuels.
I also suggest something better than Oil furnaces.
Think alternative energy!

I don't know where you live, but in Toronto it gets fucking cold. They
don't use diesel for heating (so no bio-diesel), and generally the oil
tank is in the basement. There is no greener alternative that does not
require a very expensive retrofit. My house in Toronto had an oil
furnace and it was quite efficient. My heating costs, even in the depths
of winter were always under $100 a month. The house it's self was
reasonably well insulated which is probably the single most important
way to reduce the use of heating fuel. I also had one of those timed
thermostats (reduced heat while at work and at night). When you live in
a cold place there are not many alternatives for heating your house.
